Every day your Anaheim Firefighters work hard to answer the call and deliver excellent service and public safety. We are good stewards of public resources and continue to give back in our time off. Today, we’re reaching out to ask for your help.

The Anaheim Firefighters Association is made up entirely of your fulltime firefighters, paramedics, and EMT’s. We’re neighbors, friends, coaches, and public servants. Today, we’re at the crossroads and are asking you, our community, to join us and cast your vote for our vetted and endorsed slate of 2024 candidates.

From stopping wildfires, delivering babies, responding to dangerous technical rescues or providing paramedic care, resuscitating family members in cardiac arrest, it is our honor to be your first call, on your worst day.

But we can’t do it alone.

In the past two decades the need for 911 emergency service has more than doubled. Fires burn and grow faster than ever, and the complex mission of your Anaheim firefighters has evolved to demand dual-certified cross-trained firefighter/paramedics and rescue technicians assigned to every call for help. Yet, while we’re responding to over 44,000 calls for help every year, the number of firefighters on duty remains critically low.

The City of Anaheim has the same number of firefighters today as it had in 1996.

We are asking you to join us and help elect the leaders who will put your family’s safety first and work to move Anaheim forward. It’s too late to wait any longer.

In District 1 we’re asking for your commitment to join us and vote for Ryan Balius. Firefighters believe that he is a proven ally in our shared vision to move Anaheim forward and invest in your family’s safety. Ryan’s led the effort to revitalize the Beach Boulevard Corridor and he’ll continue to promote good jobs and local economic health.

In District 4 firefighters trust Norma Campos Kurtz and believe that she is the right choice to lead the fight to keep our city’s resort area safe so it may continue to serve as our community’s hub of economic strength. Norma clearly understands the staffing crisis firefighters face and is ready to lay the groundwork to move Anaheim forward.

And in District 5, longtime local Kristen Maahs has set herself apart and is uniquely qualified to speak for our community and lead on the promise to improve public safety and reduce the time you and your family are waiting when calling 911 for help. Anaheim firefighters are proud to stand with Kristen and trust her personal knowledge and experience of our city to guide our shared vision to move Anaheim forward.

Your Anaheim firefighters have all taken a solemn oath serve and protect you and your family. But we can’t fulfill the mission with staffing plans written in the 90’s.

Your family’s safety must be the top priority for our elected city council.
